Eight Months!

My little boy is just that--a little boy! No more baby. Every month I say that, but this month it's hit me. Little knees callousing up from crawling--yes, crawling! A little tooth showed up today. He clapped a real clap for the first time yesterday. His first haircut. More first foods: yellow squash, zucchini, carrots, onion, and even a little bite of chicken. And just now a postcard from the church letting us know Caleb's promoting to the next room up! Here's a little video from the past few weeks, showing the new things he does. (I spent a lot of time trying to get it higher quality. Let me know if it was worth it!)

By this time tomorrow, he'll have slept in 5 different places over July; he's become quite the traveler! But he's done very well, still mostly sleeping through the night. All the nights in pack-n-plays in the same room as Jon and I has spoiled him a little I think, or maybe we've just realized what a light sleeper he is.

During the day Caleb normally takes three naps, ranging from 30 minutes to 2 hours. He stays awake about 2 hours between naps, and nurses every 3.5 hours. So it's still a busy day for eating! He also eats solids for breakfast and dinner, and has a cracker for a snack sometime in the afternoon. He's a very easygoing baby, and even when we push him to his limits (the other day, 6 hours between feedings), he rarely fusses! Tonight we've been up quite a bit with him, but I think it's that first tooth that showed up today, or maybe he's working on the next one already.

So far Caleb is a good snuggler. He hasn't grown out of that yet, and I'm glad. He likes to laugh. When he plays, he likes to see how things relate to each other--mostly through beating. If he's been playing with a toy, he gains new interest when he has a second toy to beat the first against.

We love Caleb very much, and are so excited to see him grow up!
