Registry Question

I just realized that I need to be registered in the next month or so, so Jon and I are looking at the books and trying to figure out what we do and don't have. But here's a question for you moms who registered out there: Is there a reason why I need to register at more than one place?

I was initially thinking I'd register at Target and Babies R Us, but if Target has everything I want, I don't want to double up, right? So should I register for everything I can at Target, and then add just what's missing at Babies R Us? Put a full registry together at both in case people just go to one or the other? What do you think?

  1. We registered at both of those because we have family and friends in other areas that shop at Babies R Us, and there were a few things available there that we couldn't get at Target. We doubled up on things like diapers, wipes, and bath stuff.

Also, the book "Baby Bargains" by Alan & Denise Fields is a great idea book for first time parents. It has TONS of practical info on baby products and brands, pros and cons of buying particular brands, what options are available to you, what to look for, safety, etc. (strollers, car seats, feeding stuff, you name it)

  2. I'd say make as much of your registry at one place, then supplement with the other store. Makes sense to me at least! =)

  3. We did the same as above. Some people prefer to go to one store over the other. I wouldn't do a complete list at both stores. Just double up on things you wouldn't mind having extras of. You could register for a few of the bigger items (high chair, car seat, stroller, etc.) at each to give people a good price range to shop for. Have fun!

  4. Sheldon and I registered at both places - Babies R Us and Target. We registered for most of our baby needs at Target, but I really liked the nursery decor, crib bedding, blankets, etc. at Babies R Us. There are only a couple items that are on both registries.

  5. I agree with the above... register at one store and supplement with the other... It's ok to double up on staple items such as diapers, bath time needs and wipes, even some clothing items are good to have double's of! :)

Best bet is to look on-line or in one of their books to find out which store has the most of what you are looking for... You can even register for clearance items!!

  6. Definitely register at both - that way most people can find you. It also doesn't hurt to double up (even on the big things) so that everyone sees what you're really needing (and then if you notice a big item has been purchased, you can always change your other registry).

  7. Hahaha! This coming from the girl who works there!

I do think the majority of my registry will be at Target. Everyone shops at Target. Then I'll supplement at Babies R Us. Unless, of course, all my picks are at BRU, and then I'll have to switch, but I doubt it will turn out that way. After all, my bike trailer is at Target! :)

  8. Well, it does help that Target and BRU are close together in your city, so shopping, exchanging, and such will be easy for you and your friends. I'll pretty much second everyone's comment of registering for most at one store and supplementing the other. I wish we had a BRU here... they keep sending me cool coupons in the mail!
