So, I finally called my grandmothers, Granny Norvell and Mawmaw Dailey, today. They were both very excited, I could tell even though neither of them screams or jumps up and down like a few people we've told! For each of them, this baby will be their first great-grandchild, and they both really seemed to like the idea. Mawmaw Dailey even offered to help pay for it all, which I of course politely turned down. You have to know her to understand how funny that is!
I'm excited, too!!!

ReplyDeleteYour mom said Granny offered your parents (as newlyweds) $1000 if they had a baby in the first year. How funny is that! I told her we might have gotten pregnant sooner if we'd had a deal like that....
I think I would have taken the first year over the thousand dollars. =) Freedom, vacations, young love - OR - midnight feedings, poop, no sleep.

ReplyDeleteAs a reminder, babies are not burdens, for whenever they come and yes, it's nice to have the "freedom as a couple" but ultimately families are the next step God calls us to, but leaves us to discern when that time is right, not to avoid and not to be disobedient!
ReplyDeleteP.S. My parents stated to us that a successful marriage of 5 years is a pre-req for having a child. However that "advice" he didn't even follow. They were with child prior to 5 years themselves. (HA!)
ReplyDeleteBabies are not burdens, but Parenthood is a very long stage, and there needs to be the "Just Us" stage before that so we'll have a solid marriage foundation when our kids go crazy. Kids in the first year (or early years) of marriage, while feasible, is not something I would recommend in most situations.
